PARTIES & THEME NIGHTS/ SEA DAY ACTIVITIES

Lots of special parties and theme nights on a World Cruise!

There are eight "traditional" formal nights! John has packed his "James Bond" tuxedo and his formal Prince Charlie dress kilt outfit with an authentic Navy tartan! Each US military service has its own tartan - who knew! I can't get him to wear shorts, but he'll wear a kilt! We each have special accessories for some of the formal nights: A red bow tie and heart pocket square for John's Valentine's Day Ball, a White tie like Robert Redford in the movie for The Great Gatsby Night, a casino theme tie & pocket square for Casino night, Mask and special tie for Masquerade Ball. Of course, I'll also be appropriately dressed, but John is more fun. He's like my own "Ken Doll"; dress him up and take him out! He's been agreeable except for the pink shirt I bought for him to wear for the casual part of Valentine's Day. That was a "bridge too far"! Back it went to Amazon!

We already had attire for many of the theme nights (St. Patrick's Day, Mardi Gras, Island Dream), but you won't find us in any Disco Night gear!

SEA DAYS

Lots of activities on a World Cruise. Lots of Sea Days, lots of choices. Just like IRCC, you can be "overbooked" if you're not careful! There's Water Aerobics at 8 AM (Sue), Creative Writing (John), and Book Club (Sue). There's The Linus Project, which is only done on World Cruises. It's an international program where volunteers knit/crochet blankets for children in need. Last year on the World Cruise, 150 guests used over 1 million yards of yarn to produce 500 blankets. I have no knitting or crocheting skills (my grandmother tried to teach me), but I've volunteered to be a yarn roller! There are lots of other classes and lectures. Watercolor painting, crafts, and ballroom dancing are some things offered. I plan to take Mahjong lessons (since I was a bridge class dropout at IRCC). John plans to continue writing on the trilogy about the fictional Duncan Barclay family. This will be book two. He’s even talking about writing a murder mystery on a cruise ship. He never runs out of ideas. Excursions on shore days may be a chance to "rest."
